Split Second tuning...
I spoke w/ Mark from Split Second...initially thinking I would order a VC2 (voltage clamp). He later told me about the PSC1-003 for tuning the MAF and also about the FTC1 which includes everything the PSC1-003 does AND allows ignition Timing to be adjusted. From what he said an described, this sounds like the "MAGIC BOX" to help fine tune my '01 1.8t... sounds almost too good to be true. Does anybody have any info/experiences w/ SPLIT SECOND's MAF and timing products?
I was also told that this FTC1 (fuel timing calibrator) will have to be custom built specifically to each car... and Laptop programmable. Also can hold 2 different maps for race gas...nos..etc.
I know some of you guys were trying to tune using MAF's.. John? What do you think about this stuff?

i will be using that to tune my car...
my car just got disasembled last week for new a turbo and complete new plumbings.
anyway,
i saw a 1.8T engine running on the PSC1 (MAF) - was making 280whp, and i didnt see cel. so you can say its good upto 280whp. i am gong for more than that so if i run into problems, i will let you know.
however it will be a while before i am done.

I've got the PSC1-003....
I like it, the only draw back is that it isn't programmable real-time, so you have to make changes, save them, check them, make changes, save them, etc, etc.
For the price though, I don't think it can be beat.
I've been tuning mine using two laptops, one with the PSC1 software, the other with VAG-COM. I then watch the O2 adjustments to find out where I need to make changes.
I haven't heard anything good about the FTC1. Last I heard (from someone who was Beta testing a unit on a VW) they were having problems with getting it to work with the Motronic crank trigger. Plus, it only has the ability to retard timing, but the two custom maps would be nice.

I have told you I could get you chips from 2 diff tuners for your car the way it is set up. You should put the steel crank from a tt in either kit tho, but I dont care if you dont care.
