Default Swain coating on Stage 3.... how much do I coat...

Turbo kit is an APR Stage 3 on a B5 A4... thinking about getting Swain coating for the Inconel manifold, hot side of turbo, cat, and the downpipe... Any suggestions? Too much coating? Looks like it'll come out to <a href="http://www.swaintech.com/store.asp?pid=10971">~$450</a> for all that...

Default My findings

I did exh. mani/turbo hot side/no cats, but did 24" of the 3.5" downpipe.

I got spool up about 400rpm quicker with the setup which was my intention. I did have to relocate the Innovate A/F sensor to ~ the rear axle to get a good steady reading, I was getting errors. The EGT sensor was located in the exh. mani. and was fine so no reason to relocate.

I did notice a lowering of underhood temps on shutdown, and the stuff cools really quickly which will save some scars from the blistering if you are working in that area shortly after shutdown. I run a GT30R and the quicker spool up was why I wanted to do it, and it turned out to be a good decision. You may need to relocate the A/F sensor anyway even if stock because they seem to be more sensitive to operating temps than say the EGT.
