Default Wetterauer 2.8 V6 30V chip performance

I have a 2001 VW passat with a 2.8 V6. I am thinking of installing a wett chip. From what I understand, the chip and engine are similar to the A4/6 2.8 V6.

Has anyone had any experience chipping the 2.8 V6 with the wett chip? If so, do you think its worth the investment? I would like to hear any comments you have.

Thanks a lot.

Default Have it...wouldn't do it again

I got that chip just soon after the proper breakin period expired. Although it may have flattened out the dip in the torque curve, it just does not offer any power increase.

I'm at 69,000 miles and haven't had any engine trouble with the chip. My Audi service guy certainly didn't notice anything either.

So, if that very slight power dip annoys you, buy it. Otherwise, save your money and get the supercharger. I'm DYING for the PES gen-2 supercharger.

My $.02

Default Re: Wetterauer 2.8 V6 30V chip performance

I got a wett chip a few years ago for my '98 2.8. It was a slight but noticable improvement. Power increase is in the same ballpark as turning your air conditioning off. It was worth it to me, but I must admit it is pretty low bang for the buck.

Default Wett is a good company

I had a great experience them with my A4 1.8T. But I think you have to remember chips for NA aren't going to make spine tingeling performance improvements like with turbos.

Default Good point

Did not mean to infer that Wett was a bad company. When I bought the chip, they were very professional. For me, I just did not get what I wanted.
