what do you think causes spark plugs to get like this?
notice how the ends that go into the coil pack are very heavily coated with dirt. also does the tip where the spark is created seem like its gone under "normal" wear? any feedback would be much appreciated.

My guess is VC gasket too....
what are those plugs gapped to? It looks big, but that could be the size of the pics.
Carbon buildup is normal, and one of the reasons why I don't mind running $2 spark plugs and changing them every 5K miles or so.

Were they all tight when you took them out?
I've seen where they were loose, one or two, and combustion would be blown by the plug, into the plug cylinder. You can see there's discoloration on the threads of those two blackened plugs too.
If not, I'd venture to say valve cover gasket, or the seal around the coil packs allowing water in to cause problems. Wash the engine much?
