OK, so i'm considering a Tip in a '98 or '99 A4. Are there any differences between the Tips in the 1.8T and the 2.8? S4? I've heard that the Tip is only good for about 235 hp... and then i think about the S4 and wonder. I'm looking at either a StageII or 'blown' [yes it is possible, per Rimmer] 1.8T, but also am considering a PES G2 on a 2.8 V6. Any and all comments are most welcome.

You heard correctly...S4 has different tip tranny be suited for the power.

OK, so where does the A4 Tip top-out? e.g. would it handle the "280 bhp" of the PES G2 blower?

Don't know...I started going that path w/my 1.8 tip & ended up buying a S4 tip

I;ve had the G2 for a few months and the G1 before that. I don't try to drag race the thing, but it hasn't borken at the autox or track.

Hey, tell me about the G1 vs. G2 blowers from PES. I'm looking at a used, well not quite but that's a different can of worms, G1 setup. I've heard stories (Nth hand) that the G1's noisy. I'd really like to hear from you on your experiences.

Seems like i see that a lot around here. I'll have to wait for the 2nd and 3rd year depreciation to kick in before an S4 will be in the budget for us... darn. I guess that's why there's a bunch of us DIY'rs make'n s4's (couldn't justify a PROPER noun there) out of A4's.

So, you didn't say, did you top-out the Tip w/ your 1.8T?

A4 1.8T and 2.8 have same Tip unit (ZF 5HP19) with different programming. S4 has different Tip unit.

Very noisy. At first cool, then annoying. Some people really hate it from the get-go. The G2 is much better, quieter, more solid, and for me, more reliable.

If you're gonna lay down a couple of grand for a used one, I'd save a bit longer and get the G2. IMHO
