Why is there so much critizism of the GT25?
Every time some one posts something aout the GT25, there is always people who go on about massive lag etc...
I have gone through the progression of a chipped K-03, to a K-04, to a 280HP model Gt25 then to a Hybrid GT25/35.
I have run software from Wett, GreedSpeed, GAIC and APR.
I would not swap my GT25/35 for any other previous combination.
If the Revs ary around 3400 rpm and abovem the GT turbo is instant in response, no lag, hesitation what so ever, even response better than most Non turbo Cars, fact....And far fast in response than my old K03 and K04.
The GT25 does produce Boost from 2000 rpm and above, in my setup about 4-7 psi.
So there is torque as some say that there is little torque compared to the K03.
Unitl you actually drive a well setup Gt25, you would not know what a advancement in turbos there has been.
The Gt25 on the track, you will never ever experience lag, unless you drop the car to idle then floor it.
The Power difference between the best setup K04 and a GT25 is chalk and cheese.
Why Can't people accept this?
The only prohibitave item in the past which make the GT25 install expensive, was the manifold, so I suppose because of this cost people always want to make them selves more comfortable in the compromize they made.
I wonder what turbos Audi used in their Hi-Tech R8, KKK, Sleeve design turbos... You will find Garret ball bearing units!!! Hmmm all that lag it amazing they ever won a race!

People can't accept because they are misinformed...
So many people post here what they speculate it is like, and none of them have ever driven a Stage 3, Stage 3+. I guarantee if they did, they would be singing a different tune.

I don't think its as much as that, but more people aren't thinking about the physics behind...
all of this. I don't think many people here have alot of experience w/ turbos, so they compare all turbos to the K03 and others that they that are of older design to the GT25. I think some people basically believe that the GT25 is just a bigger version of the K03, ie the same design principles.

It may also be the magazines.
Every article I've read about turbo cars talks about lag. They always rag on SAAB and Porche and praise Audi and Volvo. Well the difference is what the turbo is doing. The Audis and Volvos use "light pressure" turbocharging which is a whole different animal.
Anyway, we magazine readers are constantly fed misinformation about turbos. I have a GT25 and love it. While it doesn't make full boost below 3K RPM like the K03 did, it has very good throttle response and maintains boost all the way to the rev limiter.
