Default Will I notice a difference in performance between AWE's Borla exhaust and a Neuspeed/Borla exhaust?

I know that certain portions of the Neuspeed/Borla are 2.5" and the AWE Borla is 2.25" all the way. You should know I have a stock turbo and don't plan to upgrade, but I want the most for my exhaust buck. I am chipped. It is a 99.5 A4 1.8T QMS. So, will the .25" make a difference for the setup I am currently running or will there be no difference between the two? Detailed answers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your input.

Default The Neuspeed/Borla isn't a true 2.5" system...

...as it reduces to 2.25" at the center section, IIRC, and at the muffler.

If you are not planning to do a tubo upgrade, the Borla 2.25" will be sufficient for your applications. Not necessarily saying the Neuspeed will be inadequate. My suggestion is to go with which of the two is cheaper if sound isn't a consideration.

Both will improve the responsiveness of your vehicle.

Default APR 2.5" is true 2.5" from cat to muffler as opposed to Borla which is...

...2.25"

The borla is good for up to the KO4 upgrade if you're looking to save a little $$$. If you plan to go SIII, a full 2.5" will really to fully utilize the GT25.

Default I run the Borla Borla (2.25") w/ APR stage III....

and the car hauls ***.
I can't imagine an extra .25" will be a HUGE difference! Better, sure, but measurable???

What do you guys think?
Whats a .25" worth?

I'm a happy camper with my Borla.

Default dunno ..but i have an apr v2 on order .. next week (cross fingers) the diff between the 2 is...

pi * (2.25/2)^2 = 3.97607 in^2
pi * (2.50/2)^2 = 4.90873 in^2

about 1 in^2 in area .. dunno how noticable that would be .. ???

Default SethW had reported a big difference from the Borla to APR switch...

...but I'm sure you knew that already.

Mathematically speaking, that would be a 23% increase in the volumetric flow over the entire section of the exhaust system.

Also, the larger diameter piping will allow for slower exhaust gas velocities. As a result, reducing the chances of turbulence occuring w/in the flow which could empede the overall flow of the exhaust gases while maintaining a high volumetric flow rate...which is still good for the turbo.

Default thats sort of what I was thinking.......

back in the days when I was GIAC'd on the KO3, I was keeping an S4 on the track behind me for a few laps. The driver & instructor came up to me afterwards asking "what do you have in that thing"

so, I have since been on the impression that 50 or so horses are'nt all that noticable once you are at speed. Now, torque horses off the line and going through the gears?? sure!

.25" diff between an exhaust system????

What are we really going to feel? Not much IMHO.
Not to start a flame war. Just thoughts to chew on.
