Have a 2012 q5, the rear tail lights are not working, the 3rd brake light works and the blinker lights on the bumper work. But the 2 tail lights on the rear hatch are not working and on the message board in the car it says there is a fault. Anybody run into this problem???

Make sure the hatch is completely closed.

Well that was the first thing I thought of when the tailgate is closed it shows closed on the dash

If the dash doesn't say that the hatch is open, then perform a VCDS scan.
A resolution should be available after that. Sometimes just clearing the error fixes things.

Ok, I will give it a try, but why would the 3rd brake light still work. I would think that its a connected? Right?
