Default 2013 Q5 lower control arm, subframe, motor mount failure

Hi,

I have a 2013 Audi Q5 with 81,000 miles on it. A couple of days ago, while going only 5-ish MPH (luckily) the lower control arm failed, snapped off and caused the wheel to fall off the car causing the car to be immobile.
After having it towed and getting a full diagnosis on it, here's what they're saying is needing to be completely replaced:
  • Bushings and Control arm ($1,250)
  • Subframe ($3,124)
  • CV Shaft ($1,495)
  • Motor Mount ($1,492)
  • etc ($466)
  • Alignment ($189)
All for the lovely total of about $8,000... They had asked if I had hit anything (and I hadn't).... this is some MAJOR work that is needing to be done and the car isn't that old and the mileage isn't terrible ... Has anyone experienced this before or have any insights on possible cause? We're getting other quotes on these items for sure... but with the car being immobile, towing it from place to place isn't the most ideal situiation... any thoughts or insights would be greatly appreciated! thank you!

If it's any consultation, I've replaced the motor mounts at 80,000 miles and CV joint at 100,000 miles on my Q5.
Didn't "hit" anything either.

Independent labor would be cheaper. Left and Right Motor Mounts were an $800 job.

By "lower control arm failed", did you mean the ball joint snapped?
Did you notice any kind of front end noise prior to the incident?
