Default 2014 Q5 front grill area flaking off

Has anyone else experienced the front grill area (on both sides of the license plate) flaking off? If you look at the picture, you can see the black "film" is flaking off. There doesn't seem to be an easy way to address this issue without replacing the part, which I assume would be expensive and required a fair amount of labor. Any advice? I try to take good care of my Q5 and this is a bummer.

Thanks!

I've replaced them for clients, reach out to your dealer for warranty coverage

Thanks. I am out of warranty though (and bought the vehicle used as well, so assuming the Audi dealer won’t be looking to do me any favors).

could try to call Audi's customer support #, see if they can help

Replacing a grille is a bit time consuming but not the end of the world. Bumper comes off pretty easily

Looks like somebody went after it too hard with a pressure washer.

Its a shame but looks like it needs a new grill to fix it right.

The good news is that the license plate frame and the peeled areas are not part of the grill, it is two pieces. So the cost to replace or repaint won't be that bad.

Great - I was hoping this was the case. I'll try calling customer support and then look into the price of the part.

For what it's worth, a car detailer commented to me that this is a weak area of the Audi Q5 in terms of durability.

I was probably hitting it too hard with the pressurized water at the self-service car wash though, without knowing the risk.

Thank you Bob. This is very helpful to see the TSB. Is there a way I can download the entire TSB? Your screenshots are very helpful, but I was hoping to read through the entire TSB.
