Default 2016 Q5 - Technik or 2016 SQ5 - Progressive

Hello everyone. I just joined the forum. I am speaking to a dealer in Canada who has a new 16' Q5 3.0T - Technik fully loaded with 20" wheels _ Nav + Sline + B&O. They Also have a 16' SQ5 with progressive trim - Black optics + Nav + 20" 5V spoke wheels. The SQ5 is a demo with 3,000 km.

The vehicle is for my wife's DD but I will be driving it also (sometimes). Test drove the SQ5 and loved it. Have not driven the 3.0T Q5. I prefer the asthetics of the SQ5 but wish it had the technik package. Wife is currently driving a mazda 3 so she will not be missing the technik features which not a huge deal. The milage put on this car will be like 15,000 km/year. SQ5 might be a little aggressive for her but I want to enjoy driving it too to avoid having to by a sports car for myself in the near future. I drive an F-150 company vehicle and don't own my own DD.

The demo SQ5 is 2.5k more than the new Q5. I want to go with one of these two vehicles. If you are me what do you do? Q5 will be just fine for my wife but should I go with the sq5.

Thoughts?

Are you getting a fairly good discount? The new 2017s have just started to arrive at dealers. Personally, I'm biased since I ordered mine back in April and am (hopefully) going to get my 2017 this week. I went the SQ5 Dynamic Edition - which is also known as a final edition model. It will be packed with more features and better bang for your buck if you opt for a fully loaded (it even includes the 'extended' black optics package. I actually just posted a link as a dealer in Winnipeg just got their 2017 Dynamic in stock. Take a look. So just to clarify you'd be saving aprox $2,000 if you got the new 16' SQ5? Personally, I test drove both and the SQ5 was a true deal breaker for me. I also think you can get much better than $2K as the 17s are showing up at dealers now. The month of July there was a manufacture rebate of $2K on both the regular Q5 and SQ5 in Canada. Would be interesting to see what it will be for the month of August on top of dealer incentives.

The $2000 I was referring too is the incentive from Audi. I already know the will give an addition $3000 off but I will try for $4000. The total discount on a 17' is likely $3k vs $5 or $6k on a 16'.

Why limiting yourself to just these two vehicles, if you want something different? You're gonna hate yourself for all the time you will own the vehicle for the fact that it isn't what you really want, and the fact that you saved 3k on a 65k vehicle will give you no consolation.
So go and order exactly what you want. You will have to wait for a while (ask me how do I know...), but the end result will put a smile on your face every time you approach the car during all the years you will end up owning it. Trust me - this feeling is totally worth the wait, and even spending a bit more (my vehicle's MSRP is 71450$, but it's fully loaded to my liking, and I've never even for a moment regret ordering it this way). Luxury cars are supposed to make you feel better just by owning them, so don't drop a tree on that track by buying anything less than what you want.
Good luck!

i agree. order what you want. why live with a comprised soln just to save a few $

i got the 2016 q5 3l techniq, with sline and black optics pkg. it came with 20 wheels in gun metal. the car is suzuka grey.
IMHO, a much better value than the same kit in a sq5.

if i want the same power ( unlikely) i can get a stage 1 tuning kit
otherwise my loaded q5 is still many $1000 less than a sq5. i also did NOT want 21" wheel

i am now ordering 18" wheels for my winter set
