Audi Maintenance Plan Worth It?
My bet is that they are still making plenty of money or else you would not be driving your new Q5 right now. If you reveal your dealer's name and everybody here go to that dealer and demand that same low price, you dealer will send you flowers for bringing in customers for him. Do you have any basic understanding of how a dealership works? There is no backlash if one dealer sells more cars than another and it will not raise the price of cars in that region just because one dealer sells more car than another. In my case, I negotiated $42,500. I wasn't happy about the price, but didn't feel ripped off at the time. When I went to sign all the papers, my price was listed lower. In fact below invoice because during my negotiations they agreed to add in rubber mats and some other after-market crap that I got for free or at heavy discounts before signing anything. When they wrote up the sales slip for me to sign, they wanted to price the rubber mats, and after market products at retail pricing, and whatever discounts I got, they reduced the price of the car.
I call it tricky accounting, but I didn't mind since I was able to pay for those add on at retail prices on my AMEX card, and the rest was paid in cash/finance. Got a ton of points on my AMEX card.
But back to the topic: I am also looking to purchase Audi Care since that was the ONE thing my dealer would not discount or add for free. I am hoping I can find a near by dealer who can offer Audi Care at a slight discount. The mechanics around my area charge fairly close to dealer prices, so it's in my best interest to get Audi Care. I have until my first maintenance to purchase. I will most likely end up purchasing at the dealer during my first maintenance.

Anyway, my Audi service rep said that 15k and 35k service costs about $300 each, and 25k and 45k costs about $350. So you'll potentially save $500.
I plan on keeping my car 5yrs and >45k miles, and I can't get better returns in the stock market, so I'll be getting Audi Care when I pick up my car from the shop.

Based on looking at the list of services, 35k would be most expensive, followed by the 15k. The 25k and 45k look to be standard oil/filter change and brake checks etc. I can't imagine that costing more than $100 at Audi service prices.
I go back to the dealer today or tomorrow and I'll ask for a better quote.
On the way out, I bought Audi Care. The service guy was kind enough to print out their estimated fees for the 15k, 25k, 35k, and 45k service. The printout includes the list of parts and labor for each interval.
Summary below:
15K SERVICE
Parts: $108.31
Labor: $229.60
Shop Supplies: $27.55
Tax: $10.33
Total:$375.78
25k SERVICE:
Parts: $102.61
Labor: $224.00
Shop Supplies: $26.88
Tax: $9.84
Total:$363.33
35K SERVICE:
Parts: $108.31
Labor: $296.80
Shop Supplies: (missing page, but let's assume $28.00)
Tax: $10.36
Total:$443.47
45K SERVICE:
Parts: $102.61
Labor: $252.00
Shop Supplies: $30.00
Tax: $10.08
Total:$394.68
GRAND TOTAL: $1577.26
So based on these numbers, going with Audi Care is a no brainer.
Good luck with all y'all's decision!
