Default Basic Questions

I looked at the Q5 yesterday and the person at the dealer didn't know much about it.

1. I noticed in two different Q5s that the center console made a creeking sound when closing it. It seemed sort of odd. Do all the Q5s do this?

2. Do you find the V4 to have enough power?

3. The navigation voice was too low and the salesperson did not know how to raise it. How is this done?

Thanks!

Creaking center console? I guess you found two examples so far. As far as I can remember, my Q is silent.

I can't answer #2 but I can say that the 3.2L has plenty-o-power.

There should be a setting to raise the voice. I can't use navi over here in Europe with my US maps but i remember seeing that option.

I cannot say whether the 2.0T has enough power, because I have not driven it, my 3.2 certainly has. There are two ways to increase the volume of the nav directions, one is using the volume **** when directions are being given and the other is through the MMI in the nav set-up screen.

My center console/storage makes this same loud noise. Super annoying actually, thought it was just mine. Wondered if it needed a shot of WD-40 on the hinges just haven't got around to trying it. Since you noticed it on 2 other Qs maybe this won't help. Strange.

Just picked up the Q5 2.0T.

Based on our previous test drives, I noted that the 2.0T felt a bit quicker off the line. However, I attributed this to the 8 spd trans having a lower 1st gear.

If you look a the torque specs, you see the 2.0 beats the 3.2 a little, and I do feel this throughout the RPM range. However, in the final 0-60, the 3.2 is just a little quicker.

One thing that I sense, but also expected, was a very slight pause for the power to kick in due to the turbo.

Thanks everyone for your responses. A few more:

1. Does the v4 require premium fuel?
2. Does the GPS have weather, traffic or gas prices built in?

Thanks!

Yes, both the 2.0T and the 3.2 require premium.

FYI -the 2.0T is a I4 (Inline) and the 3.2 is a V6. A V4 would have too much vibration to allow it's use in a car. To overcome the vibration issue companies have used flat fours (opposing) as in the Porsche and VWs.

Here is the link for the MMI info:http://www.iamaudi.com/audi-live-tra...-subscription/

Navigation has traffic, no weather or gas prices.

The 2.0t has plenty of power for me so far, although I'm still breaking in the motor and haven't had a chance to really get on it yet.

Please check you facts...

V4 Engines

Balance shaft

With balance shafts they can balance most things regardless of inherent balance. VW have a narrow angle (15* I think) V6 and V5 based on the same block. The V6 was used in Golf and Passat while the V5 was more commonly used in the Bora (or was that Bor-ing?).

V5 Engine
