I'm thinking about ordering a '15 Q5 TDI with the black optic package. I like the pack on white and black, but I already have a white and black's just too hard to keep clean. I'd love to hear thoughts about the gray colors. I'm thinking a lighter shade of gray might look best. It's hard to tell from pictures. Oh and I'm going with brown interior.

Monsoon is a light-medium gray...would go well with HGB.
Lava is very nice, but very dark as well, too dark for HGB IMO.
In between them is Daytona, which most agree is a beautiful, in-between grey.
Once you decide, make sure to get our approval before ordering.

Daytona with black optics looks fantastic. Someone just posted this in the photo thread...

Although the sides look nice, the grill in black doesn't look so good on the gray color cars. Just not enough contrast in my opinion. Looks great on silver though, which is very easy to care for too. Just my 0.02 though.

I was able to see the moonson and daytona, they seem very similar except the daytona seemed to sparkle more, that true? is lava way darker? Maybe silver might be best for contrast

The picture in my avitar was taken by a professional track photographer. The color is dead on. It's more of a silver type of grey.
The Daytona is just a little darker than the Monsoon, and appears a little more bronzeish, although I question the color balance of this photo.

P.P.S. I completed my order with the dealer and told them I'd call when I'd made up my mind on the color.
The Monsoon looked best with those 21" titanium wheels...in case you were wondering how I finally decided.

I'm leaning toward the monsoon, I love the new wheels, but I might have to paint them a little darker than stock.

Daytona and Lava gray are both "pearl" color's, while Monsoon is metallic. The pearl colors will take on different hues depending on the the light.

To my eye Daytona and Monsoon are similar in terms of the the darkness of the color, the pearl vs metallic is what makes the Daytona appear darker.

All that said my Q is Monsoon and I like it a lot
