Default DVDGPSNAV.com Replacement MMI Screen ?

With my warranty expiring on my Q5 with MMI 3G + I would like to consider options that are available to upgrade the tech in the vehicle.

Anyone have any knowledge / experience with this product. There isn't a manual for download. Their video of the screen was not so clear (a checkerboard effect). Don't know if it was video camera or product quality.

There description implies that the basic car menus remain.

Interesting. I’ve never heard of them before, but for that price, might be worth checking out. But, also for that price it might not be high quality.

I did some further digging and it seems this company is rolling out newer hardware / software soon for Audi's. The above unit was quad core processor and Android 4.4. The newer units for some other vehicles have octa core and Android 7.1. Seems promising. I will wait until the newer generation unit becomes available for the Q5.

'inbuilt Android 4.4 operation system"
So the hardware is what, four years old? With only one review posted in all that time?
I'd be reluctant to et involved in something like that. Old, unknown source, very likely few if any sales.
Do you really want to be the pioneer for the new one?

Maybe. What they need is a US based distributor who can communicate with proper English description and documentation. I'm sure the price will go up when that happens.

I wanted to update this thread with new information on tech updates. There are several products coming out from RSNAV that should be great improvement to our current OEM MMI Infotainment system.

RSNAV has an Apple Car Play (soon to include Android Auto) module that integrates into the OEM system.

A soon to be released complete Android touchscreen replacement for 3g MMI systems.

And there is also coming 10.25" screen option versions

FWIW, here is a link to a thread on these units/this company that has been playing out in recent months on the D4 A8/S8 board. At least one guy--with a long AW post history apparently--has actually installed it. He provides a little experience w/ it in newer replies. For basic context/applicability from owning both the 2013 Q5 and 2015 S8, the D4 and Q5 remain very similar around MMI. D4 uses the folding screen and touchpad add on for (optional) input, but general functionality and apparent underlying hardware is much the same. Like Q5, it also has the pre-Connect and Connect versions as model years progress. And similarly and different than C7, D4 never got CarPlay/Auto even in its still running twilight model years.
