Electronic Blind Spot Monitor
I have a 2011 Q5 Prem.Plus and want to know if there is an after market Electronic Blind Spot Mirror I can have installed. I have seen Delphi ad for their system, but no retail availability.
I would have to order a 2013 Prestige Package, which includes monitor, but that is a $5,000 plus extra from the factory.
Too much money, and Audi does not have a separate option.
Audi makes a customer order an ugraded car to get this included. I am not pleased that the factory does not have this extremely valuable aid available on all models, but tries to get you to upgrade to an entirely new car for a considerable amount of money. I think that they have a great device, but very bad marketing. Instead of giving the salesman an opportunity to sell this product as a reasonable price, and great selling tool, they make the consumer pay a lot more money. Bad tactic.

Per your question, I don't know about aftermarket systems.
We have a 2010 Prestige that has the system. My wife leaves it on all the time. Whenever I drive the Q5, I turn it off. That's how much I value the system.

I have grown used to the system on my car now. I have come to rely on it and trust its "signals". Now that I am familiar with it, would definitely order it again. I find it most useful, leave it on permanently.
