My expectations are that Audi will protect its reputation and provide a fair solutions to people who paid a premium for their cars.
Otherwise, we may have little choice but to join a class action suit

Don't expect VAG to just fold and pay out big bucks to everyone right out of the chute. Class action suits will abound, then merge and drag out for several years. Most will join because very few will have the resources to go it alone. Eventually there will be settlements agreed to and approved by the courts unless VAG drags it out with actual trial and appeals. More time will pass before anyone sees their piece of the settlement. No one except those in the lead plaintiff class and the attorneys will be happy. That's how these things always work.

I was hesitant to enter into my first ever lease in January of this year, but I can't tell you how glad I am now that I went with the lease instead of the purchase on my 2015 Q5 TDI. I'm assuming I can just turn it in 2 years from now and walk away.

Absolutely, you will be returning the Q5 to its owner... You are a very lucky person...
