Earlier today, I simultaneously pulled the exterior driver side handle as I hit unlock, to open the door. When this occurred, I felt no pressure when I pulled on the handle, and the door would not open. However, the interior handle did work... no matter how many times I hit lock/unlock with the remote, and messed with the manual key, the door would not open or have that tension when opening a car door. I went back to work, obviously very upset... went back out at lunch, and first try the door handle had pressure and opened up. Kind of weird, I read online that the pawl can get out of sync, and cause the door not to open.. but not sure what to think... has anyone else had this happen?!

As Frank Lloyd Wright said (about chairs tipping over backward) that's not YOUR fault, that's just plain bad design.

Could be you popped some plastic or pot metal connecting piece inside. If you've got a warranty, just tell 'em it doesn't work and warranty it.

No warranty? Get a couple of estimates for the labor, and find out what kind of parts they might need, i.e. whether Audi sells "cheap little connecting pins" or only entire door handle assemblies.

If you've got a good auto electric place around, they might be very familiar with what is needed, because they do power door lock conversions and mess with door locks that need tinkering all the time. Or any decent (not just alleged) mechanic should be able to reconnect some latch thing in there.
