The fable of the grasshopper, the squirrel, and the audi...
SO my wife tells me she hears something rattling and a strange smell outside the car. Thank goodness when I looked under the hood there was no roast squirrel. But there was plenty of roasted acorns and squirrel poop. After about an hour of vacuuming, cleaning, and treating, I was happy to see no chewed wires.
I guess the little guy must like German engineering... but he'll have to buy his own. This one's mine!

He probably travels around on top of the plastic trays. Lots of room up there.
Poor squirrel is going to die of starvation what ever you do. I just get the feeling this whole experiment has gone awry for both parties Grasshopper.

Funny, I had a similar story with my Grand Cherokee, I smelled something awful and the fan on the right hand side was buzzing. I didn't take it in personally, but the person who took it for service reported there was a mouse that jammed itself in the fan blade, and the fan was grinding against it causing the buzz.

OK, now this is becoming less funny.
My wife called to let me know there was smoke from the engine compartment and when she looked it was full of acorns again.
I may have to go "Elmer Fudd" on this squirrel... rotten little kraut-obsessed rodent.

Moral of the story - put it in the garage lol
All they are are rats with fuzzy tails
I had this where a neighbors cat crawled up in my Jeep 5.9 once (and it happened only once )

Mice like that insulation under the hood. They have been known to move right in and eat it too. Happened to me with our B5 in the garage. Heard of it happening to other Audi's and VW's as well.

gotta give the squirrel the 'credit' that he wants a stylish home & knows there is plenty of room for storage of his winter stash?

SO I read that fox urine can be used to deter rodents... but I wonder if the solution might have unanticipated side effects...... I'm not sure if I want to wake up one morning to bubba the fox getting intimate with the Q5.

eeeeeewwwwww
not sure of the home remedies for the little friends....
I'd just keep an exterminator on retainer if I had those issues !
The wife would injure ME running away from them more than the lil friends if she saw one
