IE: Best tyre choice for 21" SQ 5 diesel?
Hi Guys
Looking for advice on best tyre choice for a 2015 3.0 tdi sq5 with 21" wheels. Im told that the Audi approved R01 choices for this car are : Continental sport contact 6 tyres , pirelli PZ or dunlop Sport Maxx GTs. Could anyone advise what's the most appropriate/best tyre for my car? Im looking for something with good wear..

The tire width "255" and the aspect ratio "40" can be altered a bit.
A more available (and often less expensive) tire, that is close-enough in width and aspect ratio is a 265/40 R21. The Continental Extremecontact DWS06 Plus is a very good performance all-season tire that is available in this size. The treadwear rating is 560, which should give a very good treadlife.
I installed the 265/40 R21 DWS06 tires on my 2017 SQ5, it fits fine, no fitment/clearance issues.

Per OP's thread title IE = Ireland.
The DWS is only sold in North America, Continental make different all-season models in Europe. Although nothing in that size is the correct 101/102 load rating, they are all intended for heavier vehicles (105 load ratings) so will tend to a stiffer ride characteristic unless you drop pressures a little.
To the OP, these three 255/40R21 102Y XL tyres are all ultra high performance summer tyres, which I assume you understand. They are not suitable for use under 7°C, and I would have thought you would be using winter tyres at the moment. And as they are ultra high performance tyres, they trade wear for grip. You cannot have both. If you expressly want to trade some performance for increased tread life, better to move down a category perhaps?
