ok, so I did the plasti dip. First try was a major failure! Was way to cold. So I peeled it off and doing it again right. Moved to inside in the bathroom to get enough warmth and ventilation.
anyways, i was wondering how smooth the finish will be? The finish I am getting right now has a slight texture to it. I would say its like 75%-80% smooth. Should it be perfectly smooth or should it have a slight texture too it?

I guess you weren't doing the entire car!

It will be a mat finish with some texture when it's dry, not a high shine.

You can also get the plastidip gloss clear cans as well. I've messed with it a bit and must have put it on too thick too fast. Got to layer it I think.

It's not for me I guess.

lol yeah not the whole car. Just the badges right now. But as it isnt perfectly smooth I probably wont do more then just the badges right now. Will probably by a gallon of it so I can reduce it and get it to lay flat.

Next up if that will make it lay flat is window trim and maybe roof rails. I can buy factory roof rails from Audi that are black, but can not buy all of the window trim. My local Audi dealer said only the bottom half of the trim can be ordered in black from the service shop, That doesnt make sense but oh well.

will post a picture of the front badge tomorrow.

Yeah, saw that clear. But my wife wants all matte black. if all else fails I will just lay down regular paint and matte it all out that way. It will be a little more permanent, but I will know exactly what the results will be.

well I got the plasti dip done. It actually turned out better then i thought. I just have not had time to take a good picture.
But funny thing. I emailed the company i originally bought the matte black rings from saying they didn't fit and whatnot. Well yesterday in the mail new rings showed up! The right size ones! So this weekend I will put those on. here is what they look like. I will have to take a good pic of the plasti dip factory ones and these after they are installed. They quality isnt as good as factory, but what can you expect from aftermarket right? lol
