Older Q5 issues and CPO and extended warranty
My 2010 Q5 s-line is in good shape but has 41k miles on it. I recently purchased it as Certified pre owned and have audi care to 75k mile service as well as extended and tire/wheel warranty on it. Wondering if anyone has experience with the CPO, extended, and t&w warranties and how coverage/service is on them. Also I purchased at Audi of Brookline and was looking to see if any Boston area owners have thoughts on that dealer for service (have heard some negative comments) or would recommend another for service in the area? Thanks

Your regular warranty is (4) years or 50K miles. Then your CPO takes over (6) years or 100K miles. Audicare is good until 45K service. Audicare plus is good until 75K, includes 55K, 65K and 75K services. In western MA, Flynn Audi has always been great for service, repairs and body shop. Any dealer should be happy to help with all your coverages. Welcome and Good Luck!

Actual completed CPO experience ; net, good
Bought my W12 one year old w/ CPO out to 6 years, 100K miles. Also had extended service to 75K miles (back then it ran 7 years in only one flavor before Audi cheapened the coverage while continuing to raise the price). Back then extended service cost $690 for three years of incremental coverage regardless of vehicle; needless to say on a 12 cylinder with 13 qts of oil, 12 plugs and twin filter boxes the parts alone penciled out to >$690. CPO coverage was quite extensive, dealing with most anything besides the obvious brakes and tires, interior trim, etc. Doesn't cover parts of MMI as I recall as one other watch area, but I never ran into that--worth looking at carefully though so you know. I ran it all the way through the 6 years of CPO, doing a "last hoorah" very close inspection and bringing it in for its last punch list of items at about 78K miles when I was at 5 years, 11 mo. into measured CPO period.
More broadly, UNLIKE most extended warranties you don't get into a debate about "normal wear" with CPO, which effectively guts the warranty coverage on many common (at least for Audi) items. For example, they replaced upper control arms and U links on front suspension. Basic Audi design flaw across many models now w/ parts not beefed up enough from what is essentially a 15 year old A4 design at much lower vehicle and wheel weights back then; CPO covers w/ no big deal. Extended warranties will label it "normal wear" and not cover. As other examples CPO also covered leaking valve cover gaskets, TPMS sensors and a bad engine (torque) support mount that took tons of hours to get at.
If I found the right car, I would easily do it again--leave the first year or two steep typical luxo/Audi depreciation to someone else and get two more years of extensive coverage in the years more likely to need them.

My favorite dealership for service is Bernardi in Natick. They don't have the best prices, so I would recommend buying elsewhere, but their service team is very friendly and knowledgeable. It's a straight shot down Rt-9 from Audi Brookline, about 20 minutes without traffic.

At first reading, this statement is a little ambiguous. FishCook's car was bought with 41,000 miles, so his factory warranty is only good for 9,000 miles, or 4 years from original owner purchase, whichever comes first. Now the clock is reset. Then the CPO warranty takes over, and is good for only 2 years, or another 50,000 miles, whichever comes first. If FishCook puts 12,500 miles on his car per year, then all totalled, his total warranty is good for something less than 3 years from his date of purchase. Also, the CPO warranty is "limited." It doesn't cover some items that the factory warranty covers, such as MMI and navigation, etc, and it requires an $85 co-pay for every warranty repair.
