Default Possible TSB for Q5 Steering Shudder

Went to Rusnak Pasadena for 5K service. Advised tech of low speed steering shudder. Asked if he wanted info from audiworld. He said we don't look at that stuff because it is frequently wrong. Im thinking yeah right audiworld prob knows more than half of these techs about common issues.

Anyway the shop foreman took me for a ride and as soon as he pulled out of the parking spot the wheel vibrated. Here is the info from my invoice for the fix (including what is possibly a new TSB for Q5?) :

Power steering hose malfunctioning.
Perform TSB # 2024674/1.
R & I Power Assisted Steering Hose. 4894 1900 110 T.U.

FP-Number 8K1-422-893-CJ
Description: Flex. Hose

This is the info I already had going in (minus the TSB #) thx to the myriad threads on here regarding the issue (thx members). Hope this will help others. I will report on the new hose. Apparently some still have the issue even with the new hose.

This is great info, thanks.

Have you noticed the shudder after the new hose?

No, and I live in a condo complex with a smooth surfaced garage where I would notice the shudder at least 3-5 times per week. It hasn't happened once since the hose replacement. So far I'm very happy. Glad the shudder was replicated immediately at the dealer though or else I'm not sure they would have fixed it.

-- Rehajm, no problem. There are many others here that helped me to handle this issue, glad I could return the favor.

Great to hear!!! Hopefully at my next maintenance I will get them to change out my hose. Had this since day 1, of course unable to replicate it the two times they had my Q, one for the 5k the other from the tow truck.

I was always able to replicate mine by backing up and turning the wheel completely to one side, then palming the steering wheel very fast while inching the car forward. Perhaps its the same for you.

Default A4 2010 power steering shudder came back after fix.

about 3 yrs ago 2013 my 2010 A4 CPO car had the shudder. The dealer fixed it but it is back in 2016 with a mild shudder. Is Audi refixing or have a better fix than they did a few yrs ago???

The TSB is for the Q5's with a hydraulic assist steering system, you have an electric assist in your Q5 so the TSB doesn't work out.
