Default Potential New Q5, Heated Rear Seats and USB?

Hey all,
Long time lurker, first time poster. We are currently a BMW family, wife and I both have 328i's. I have found a need to get into a sport ute for the utility factor, but want something enjoyable as well, so the Q5 is my obvious choice, right?

I am wondering if heated rear seats are an option on the Q5. I cannot find anything when building, but it seems odd that this option would not be available since it is so prevalent among other luxury brands. Anyone care to chime in?

Also, I thought I had read somewhere that the 16 MY was going to have a USB port. Can anyone confirm.

Thanks!

In the US heated rear seats are not an orderable option Some people have retrofitted them. They are available in Canada and other markets.

I believe with an adapter you can have a USB port that connects to the MMI.

That's unbelievable! Even my 2004 A6 has heated rear seats.

Why not a 328i wagon?

You get the same utility, but it handles like a car and not like a truck. Better mpg, too.

I have considered that as well as X1 and X3, think I am just wanting something a bit different.

Yeah some users have retrofitted it but it is NOT cheap to do rear heated. I wish we had a heated steering =(

Agreed. I had a 2015 Q7 loaner that had heated steering and it was awesome.

Surprised it is not even an option on the Q5.

I was deciding between a BMW 428 gran coupe and the Q5...the 428 had heated rear seats, so my kids were very disappointed when I went with the Q5. They got over it, and they love the car as much as I do. They were disappointed again when my wife got the Acura MDX - the only way to get heated rear seats with the MDX was to get the rear DVD/entertainment package, which we didn't want. Sad spoiled kids again! BTW, for whatever reason, they always prefer taking the Q5 instead of the MDX. The better sound system, contoured seats, and pano roof are big hits with the boys in back...

I agree it is a major bummer that they didn't offer heated rear seats for the US. I was one of the people who successfully retrofit them. Not cheap at all. You can get heated rear seats and a heated steering wheel in the Q7 though. The heated wheel cannot be retrofit into the Q5 due to variances in the way the steering column control module communicates with the instrument cluster.
