Q5 2014 AMI USB Cable to Bluetooth Streaming
Hello Everyone.
I saw many posts addressing how to use AMI (IPOD) Cable to stream music through Bluetooth, however my Q5 2014 (GCC specs) came with AMI USB Cable (IC40229 / RO-4036).
My question is "If I connected a USB Bluetooth Audio Receiver/Adapter to this AMI USB Cable (IC40229 / RO-4036), and I connected my phone (IPhone) to this Bluetooth Receiver, will it stream music from my phone or not?"
I welcome anyone contribution and thoughts.
Thank you.

If i understand it correctly, no. The AMI USB adapter is a data-only adapter, while it provides enough power to read a USB stick, it will not provide enough power for a bluetooth audio receiver.
There are some that will plug into the USB connection and power themselves from an internal battery, requiring recharging every 6? hours, or adding a power cable as well. Your best bet is one of the bt devices that plug directly into the AMI. All of them have quirks, plenty of old threads on those. If you buy one of those, make sure the seller has a trial or return policy because the "quirks" vary with the specific model year, AMI/vs/MMI, bt level of your phone, and probably the phase of the moon. As well as what you personally can accept for "quirks".

I’ve got a Car2Play BT AMI adapter and it works pretty well now, and I say now because it was giving me all sort of issues until I had a faulty phone BT module removed, nothing to do with Car2Play. I mostly use it with my iPhone 6 plus and Spotify, and some times with Apple Music as well. It’s got a few quirks like not showing the correct track on screen but that’s something I can live with, mine is a 2009 Q5 non MMI.

Update:
I managed to order from Amazon " " at $ 89 (plus $ 18 for the international shipment).
One end goes to the AMI port and the other is a Bluetooth Adapter.
It works perfectly, I feel I am driving a new car

Glad to hear it’s working for you! These are the little details that make the ride a little bit more pleasant, specially on long commutes or road trips.
Cheers!
