Q5 A/C Problem.

Q5 A/C Problem.
My A/C decided it didn't want to blow cold air today, fan on max, AC button illuminated and turning off/on when pressed, compressor running fun, clutch engaged although I can't hear it cycling. I have read on most forums people have switched out their A/C Pressure Sensor I was going to start with this as it is the cheapest solution and if that doesn't fix the problem go from there. I was wondering if anyone has replaced the pressure sensor on their Q5 and if you have, did you have to evacuate the system of all the refrigerant? I hooked up my gauge to the low side test port and the pressure was reading 130 psi, obviously extremely high and not sure what that is about. I figured it must be from a failed pressure sensor and the compressor isn't turning off which in turn is always leaving the system pressurized? Any info would be helpful, thanks.

Audi was incredibly clever on that, apparently you can replace the sensor without opening up the gas system, so yes, you can do this.
But throwing money into random parts...not so good on AC systems. They can be incredibly fickle about what really is or isn't a problem, and fool you into lots of wasted time and effort. AC systems, unfortunately, usually need a pro despite whatever they cost. And even then the trick is to find a really competent one.

Yes both preceding suggestions were good ones.Audi's Ac.systems are real good and have been for a long time, with exception of the pressure sensor which is cheap and easily replaced.So yes step 1 is get a thorough scan done eg.with VCDS.If there's something "going on" with an Audi's Ac.system it's likely electronic and in the passenger compartment.
By the way has any work ever been done on your Ac.system ? Low side high can indicate an overfill.
