A/C Issues
Been having some issues with my air-conditioning and I'm looking for some second opinions. I'm starting to think there's a clog somewhere in the system. My car is an 02 A4 with a 1.8T. Here's the story:
About a month ago I noticed when the outside temp was above about 85 farenheit, the AC would stop working and the ECON light would come on. Scanned the air conditioning module and it was throwing a code for "high pressure sensor signal too high". I had this problem on my last A4 so I replaced the sensor. Still have the same problem, still getting the same code. The compressor is functioning, the sensor is just shutting it off. I'm starting to think there's a clog in the system somewhere causing the pressure to build up. The orifice tube maybe?

A few years ago I added refrigerant to try to improve my AC. In the process, I over pressurized the system and whenever the AC was on and the outside temperature got hot, the AC system would automatically shut down due to over pressurization. The Econ light would come on and not turn off until I cleared the code with VCDS. Each time it happened, I would vent a bit of refrigerant. Eventually, I vented enough so the pressure dropped to the point where I don't get the high pressure lockout any more.
