As far as modding to get the heated seats to work, is the issue that no one knows the bits to set or is their some protection where the program cannot be changed?

If someone knows they settings from an 09 maybe we can reprogram the entire chip with those settings?

Does anyone know the nvram type and if the nvram can be removed for offline reading and programming?

I have 2012 and bought the q5 over a Mercedes for the handling. I have major back issue and need heated seats, this is kind of rediculous, they do not seem on with a t shirt and shorts in southern California, for those in pants and a light jacket you would never know they are on.

You guys think you have problems. I'm in Calgary Alberta Canada and I drive to Alaska and all over the north on ski trips. I bought a 2012 and they've done nothing to help. Had it in shop 3 times and no resolve. To them 38 degrees C is good enough. I test drove in a 2011 and it was hot out so I didn't check the heat setting. Wish I had. I will never buy an Audi again under this condition. I have expectations of luxury brand and ultimately 1 mistake has ruined the brand for me. My first and only, may she rest in piece when I sell her in the bear future and buy something that can keep me comfortable for 15 hour trips to the mountains and snow.

+1 on all the sentiments here. It's ridiculous that Audi charges for an option that doesn't work. We have an Acura and a 7 yr old Saab in my house that puts these things to shame. Audi needs to step up on this, If someone someone starts a petition, Ill be happy to sign.

Just bought a 2018 Q5 and having the same issue with front seats not heating. Dealer service manager said his Audi rep told him this is “an emerging issue” with Audi of America and the German engineers are looking for solution.

Anyone here think they’re just blowing smoke, or could they really be working on it. I, too, feel ripped off.

Agree, my 2014, Q5, heated seats get very hot. I usually turn on the seat heaters in November in PA, set to #1 position, and never turn them off until March.

The heated seat issue seems to have been resolved with the facelift models starting in 2013. They changed the system from 6 settings to 3 and who knows what else. My 13 and 16 worked fine as does my current 2017. It was the 2011 that had problems. The question asked was about the 2018 model. I have no idea what's going on with those. Might be more info on the other forum.
