Q5 mileage
I went to the international auto show last week specifically to sample the Q5. There was a Q5 on display, but it was on a raised pedestal and no one was allowed to touch it, sit in it, or even get close to it! It was strictly a "look but don't touch" presence. Damn!
According to the Eurpoean Q5 PDF brochure, the Q5 gets 27mpg/urban 38/extra urban and 33/combined. Can this possibly be real? It sounds too good to be true.

Which engine? If 2.0 TDI, then sounds right.

Re: Exactly, and probably why I'll be buying a GLK diesel instead of Q5TDI
Are they completely out of touch withe demand for fuel efficient vehicles in the US? If the American Q5 offers performance in the 17mpg range like the Acura RDX, I will not be buying it. Sorry Audi.

Are you completelty out of touch with what the rest....
of the world. You guys pay literally half what most of us pay. The margins are really tight for car sales in the US. Then you (not personally but the country) complain about Diesel emissions and you dont want it on sale. US legislation and protectionism makes it expensive for imports to bring new models. You just cant have it every way unless you pay.
Audi already makes the cars you say the US wants so whats the big problem???
Exactly, thats just what I am not saying too.

2.0TFSI would be cheaper for the US...
I posted this in an earlier thread about the non-diesel 2.0 TFSI:
Q5 Euro 2.0 TFSI (non-diesel):
0..60mph: 7.2 sec
23/33mpg city/highway EEC
28mpg combined EEC
Reduce about 20% to get EPA test numbers:
about 22mpg combined.
IIRC I've heard 25 mpg highway for the 3.2 TFSI which might be relatively good given it's also Quattro. But I'd love to get instead the 33 mpg highway with the 2.0 TFSI which is lighter and cheaper to produce for Audi than the 3.2.
I do think there's a market in the US for smaller engines such as the 2.0 TFSI and the dollar dropped more than 20% recently.
PS Euro MPG's are typically on average 20% higher (due to different test methods).

Re: Are you completelty out of touch with what the rest....
I don't know why a few groups in US complaint about emission since diesel run very clean and quiet now. These are people who run japanese, prius for example, and lack update of technology.
Those who originally from Europe know and want diesel regardless. Of course, there are some not from Europe but still want diesel.
I don't buy until Q5 diesel come to states or until I find a better looking diesel than Q5
