Q5 price question
Hi everyone Im about to purchase my first Audi, a Q5. Found this forum, great forum, lots of helpful info.
I got a price question. So from reading some price threads on this forum seems alot of people are paying from -200 invoice to +500 invoice on 2009 Q5s. Then I saw the thread that Audi is offering an additional $1000 on cash for clunkers customers (which Im planning to trade in 1!) So does that 1000 come from Audi itself?
so once I negotiate a selling price of say invoice +200 I can throw in my clunker and the dealer now have to minus another 5500 from our original negotiated price? (4500 from the gov and 1000 from Audi)
or do the dealer have the right to refuse the 1000 citing that the invoice +200 already include that discount?
Can I also use that extra 1000 in an Amex deal?
I hope that makes sense.
Thanks gurus

I turned in a cash for clunker and got the $4500 off as a rebate (in Ohio) meaning I had to pay tax for the complete deal as it was not a trade in. I picked up my car Aug 3 and the additional $1000 incentive from Audi did not start until Aug 5th. Well I did get Audi USA to send me a check for the incentive.
The dealer does not care about the $4500 or $1000 as it does not come from their pocket. You do have to find a dealer that is registered for the CARS.gov program

2010 Q5 premium Black on Black W/music interface/bluetooth/homelink
37700
Bluetooth/homelink/mi invoice (930)
Vehicle invoice on truecar (36385 I don't know how accurate this is)
37700-930-36385=385 over invoice
I really wanted no options at all, but this is the cloest they can find to no options.

Something also to note is that the CARS rebate system applies to vehicles with an MSRP less than $45,000, but this is the base price of the vehicle before any options or destination charge.
The $1000 incentive comes from Audi corporate so the dealer will gladly give it to you. However, when I negotiated my deal I didn't tell my dealer I was 'trading in' a clunker until after we had come to an agreement on the price so he couldn't use the rebate or incentive money as a negotiating advantage against me.

Are you sure about the MSRP?
Are you saying that I could purchase a Q5 Prestige, S-Line, Drive Select, which has a vehicle MSRP north of $50K, and still take advantage of Cash for Clunkers, since the base model is $38K?
Or, is it model specific, so I could purchase a Premium Plus, S-Line, Drive Select, since the base Premium Plus price is below $45K?

The invoice for your Q5 is $36500, $1000 over invoice is a pretty good price for a Q5 as of now. Of course the long you wait, the low the price, but unless its a year end model, under invoice price will be hard to come by.
