Q5 Steering wheel badge replacement?
I have scrach on my chrome frame around audi logo on the steering wheel. Is it easy to replace just frame or I have to disconnect battery and take steering wheel off?
Found on Aliexpress replacement part and I will order it but I am afraid to remove it without checking first here.

The one from ebay or aliexpress sticks on existing on top (double tape). Easy to install.

When I examined the 2 options I chose the danger risk free way which was also easy to install. Probably it can be done but I haven’t tried. I thought it was also complex compared to the chrome trim stick mount method. If you do it let us know but be warned that it is dangerous.

I checked ElsaWin and they said you should disconnect battery minus terminal while key is in on position and wait 10 sec before you start playing with airbags. I will check youtube if anywhere is explained how to do it.

It is not worth it, better to order one like this except in case of accident and air bag activation, this thing is gonna fly in your face.

Here is the Youtube video, someone actually did this. I personally wouldn't. Need to drill out the old one, and rivet in the new one.

And if it blows the plastic part or the metal part will hit ones face. Dangerous
Anyrhing with airbag is dangerous. I was sweating when I removed the airbag harness from one airbag.
you have to be trained and certified to be legally allowed to handle airbags. I am not but trying at least not to have a static electricity on me.

When I owned a garage my sons, crazy young guys, used to love firing off airbags from scrapped cars. They'd put the bag on a large hard maple log and place a tire on a rim on top and send a fire signal.Typically tire on rim would blow up vertically 5 - 6 feet.Impressive ! tire/rim combo probably weighs +/- 50 lbs.Don't want that energy coming towards your face unless everything is to design spec. But that's just me.
