Q5 Valentine 1 hardwire installation w/ pics

Elevens, you rock! This saved me a bunch of time. Just as easy as my M3... although the ground was a little tougher. I couldn't find a good one - I didn't want to splice wires since I was using the hardwire kit from V1. Ended up just drilling a hole in my 2 day old Q5! It was hot in the car and I wanted to be done.

dumb question. Is there a screw/nut in the upper area that I can use as a ground? Or do I need to splice into the brown ground wire? Can I use another T Tap to accomplish this? Thank you.

I found two nuts that are grounded that i want to use. T30 heads. I don't have an additional wire tap at the moment and would prefer grounding to a bolt. I'm going to try to find a socket T30 because my T30 bit with screw driver won't fit and i can't find a way to lower the headliner a bit.
I did it using wire taps for hot and ground on my 2009 and it worked great. Everything looks the same for my 2014 TDI.

UPDATE: The new SAVVY recently released by Valentine One pretty much makes hard wiring obsolete. The SAVVY provides speed selectable muting. I set mine for 35 mph. Not having any beeps when putzing in the city is great! It plugs into the OBD port, then your V-1 plugs into it. Replaces the untidy hard wiring taps into fuse block and chassis ground lug screw.

i had install my V1 to my Q5 using your previous post, but today for some reason the V1 would start and then shut off. i decided to take the out the hard wire install and use the lighter instead. i think the problem was the ground connection which in the q5 is a bit of struggle to get to.
could you post pictures of your savvy install? do you know where can i find instructions how to take part of the headliner and a pillar cover out for a clean install?
thanks, mjc
