I bought a red grommet cable which is supposed to display album art on an MMI Plus 2014 Q5 (software version: HN+_US_AU3G_P0715) as described in:

I can't get the MMI to detect/link the attached IOS device. It does charge it however.

Some things I tried:
Tried an iphone 3gs with old and updated IOS
Tried an ipod nano 6G
Rebooted the IOS devices
Rebooted the MMI

Does this cable work with the Q5 without issues for others and did I perhaps just get a bad cable?

The red grommet cable does work in 2014 Q5s.

I have this cable..It works perfectly, and it even provides video with 30pin iPhone/iPad connections.

BTW, I have used it with iOS 6-8 with no issues. It will only show album art via the Music App.

Make sure the Media input has the AMI cable selected.

@spijun - if it's fake, it has to be the best fake ever.... every OEM detail is perfect on the packaging and even down to the manufacturer engraving on the connectors.

seller offered a replacement so will try that and return it if it doesn't work. Thanks for your replies!

Simply price is everywhere much higher, even twice as. That is suspicious
