Replacement Tires for 2015 Q5 TDI
i would appreciate advice from our community on getting replacement tires for our Q5 TDI.
The Audi dealer seeks the OEM Michelin with AO stamped, which they indicated is custom designed for our Q5’s suspension. It also costs $350/tire installed.
The OEM tire is rated for 55,000 miles but the dealer tells me that most people are lucky to get 40,000, and the dealer was surprised to see that ours had 44,000 miles with another 5,000 to go or so. We do rotate tires every 5,000 miles or so.
A comparable Michellin (without the AO stamped) runs around $275/tire.
I will appreciate guidance dance and advice from those you with experience on our Q5.
Thanking you in advanced.

My 14 Tdi came with Goodyears. They were surprising good other than being susceptible to flats. When replacement time came at 60k miles I shopped and found that the Michelin LTX was very interesting but both the GY & the Michelin are stupid overpriced in Canada for 19's I looked at Bridgestone Ecopias they were very well rated and cost 35% less.I've got about 40k miles so far and I expect to get to 65k not bad ! They're excellent, good performance, quiet, good in the rain etc.I'd buy again.

Tire Rack has two versions of the Michelin Premier LTX. One of them has the AO designation.
We put these on our '15 Q5 (non-AO designation) one year ago. Fantastic tire from Michelin. Already done 20k miles on it.
This Q5 left the factory with the Contintal tire, also a very nice tire. That original set did about 41k miles and could have gone a bit farther.
I'm moving back to Michelin on all our vehicles. I've had nothing but outstanding experience (meaning trouble-free) with their product.

My Mich Premeir LTX are about done at 31k miles. it’s an excellent tire, sticky and quiet but lousy on wear rate. I’m replacing them with Vredestein Quatrac 5.

I own a set of Pirelli Scorpion Verde A/S Plus on 19’s, which I use as a winter tire and a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4S on 20’s for summer. In Tennessee a winter tire is not really needed, and I just like performance tires in summer. I am pleased with both my selections.

I would be thrilled to get 30K. Of course, I tend to buy the stickier HP, UHP varieties for no apparent reason since the wife does not hot rod like I do. It came with Goodyear Excellence which don't have a great rep but were plenty sticky enough, tried the Conti DWSs - great until 1/2 worn and then beyond noisy, just took off Nitto 421Qs and we are just shy of 60K [total miles]. Goodyears were summer tread so I pulled them the first winter for the Contis, ran the Goodyears summer 2 when the Contis were toast, put the Nitto 421Qs on in the fall, just put the Goodyears back on this summer since the Nittos were toast. Have had 2 alignment checks. Tires are rotated at 5K. Probably find out I'm doing it too often?

Our hands were forced sooner than expected by a stupid nail on the side of a tire. Since the tires already had almost 45,000 miles on them and we are traveling out of state, we decided to replace all 4.
We then went to local Costco, and ordered a set of Michelins LAT Tour HP to be installed tomorrow when they go on sale. The net cost installed is $223/tire after rebate plus tax
Will report on their performance
Again, thanks to all of you

This to keep all informed on our experience to date.
We put in over 11,000 miles with new tires. The new tires from Costco are working just fine. We cannot tell the difference from OEM tires but are regular folks and not tire connoisseurs
We had lifetime alignment service with Firestone and added lifetime rotation & balancing with them for the new tires. We now do all every 5,000 miles.
All is is going very well on our end— so far.
Will be be glad to share more as time goes by if anyone likes
