Default Researching 2014-2016 SQ5

Help a fella out...seriously considering a 14-16 SQ5...what issues should I be aware of? This would be a daily driver that I'm looking to put serious miles on...also considering a few APR upgrades . Should I be concerned about anything? Are these bulletproof? Any and all help appreciated!

Yeah you're not going to find much that's more bullet-proof and fun than an SQ5.Get a solid history vehicle and go have some fun !

Ditto. It has been a near bulletproof ownership experience for me for almost 2 years. It does eat a set of tires every 12 - 18 months even with minimal to moderate spirited driving so include that in your annual maintenance budget. Also, if possible, purchase Audi Care to save on your maintenance expenses as well.

Wishing you the best finding your new ride!!

14-15 are the same, 16 options, including red brake calipers and diamond-stitched upholstery.
Not sure which has the hand touch convenience-key

My '14 SQ5 has 135K on it...damn thing goes through tires and brakes!

Can't imagine what's causing that to happen?!!

My wife says my '16 SQ5 is a more comfortable, smoother ride than either my previous S4 or S5. Enjoy...

Still love the car. Only issue has been a new fuel pump (~$1000).

Go for it.

It's a fun CUV. There are a few things you will want to know:
  • If you get one with 21" wheels 255 all season tires are ridiculously priced but 265s are about half and will fit (barely under the UCA).
  • No heated steering wheel or remote start
  • Technology is behind any comparable 2016 car, but hopefully you're buying it for the drive-train and engine vs HUD, lane assist, park assist, etc.
  • The car is over dampened and excessively stiff, but due to the ride height can still feel somewhat unstable at high speeds on the freeway (85+). Why no air / mag ride? Cost cutting is the only thing I can think of
  • The windshield is soft and pits easily with freeway driving
  • The rear privacy cover and trunk rattle
  • I've had a few strange electrical issues: oil level, 1 bank rich (both false readings)
  • You will want to buy a dipstick because there is a tube with a plug in it instead of an actual dipstick and per above, you can't trust the computer
  • The center of the fascia is $800 if you get one with a front plate holder and want to replace it with one without holes (plate holder is fitted with self tapping screws)
  • The valves cake in carbon over time and need to be manually cleaned at around 60,000 miles
  • 21.1 mpg average for me in moderate city traffic

For a daily driver / family hauler I don't think you can get something much more fun with as nice of an interior. If I didn't have twins and a dog I'd get an A7 over an SQ5 (It's a better deal hands down)
