Default RO: Aquisition advice Audi Q5 ,Year 2016-2017

Hi all and Happy New Year!

I'm looking to purchase an SH Audi Q5, Year 2016-2017. It would be great to receive some feedback from the owners of such models.

Currently I own an quite old Audi A6 Avant, 2009) ,which I didn't had quite a nice experience with multi-tronic gearbox and sport suspension , which is very stiff for the poor quality of the roads from my area.

What I'm interested in the "new" car:
- High safety features
- To offer comfort on poor streets quality and to have a high ground distance ( no sport suspension packages)
- Which engines are the most reliable, Diesel or Petrol? I'm driving mostly on very short distances inside a city.
- Which Gearbox to choose, manual or automatic? I prefer an automatic, but I don't know if are reliable. For example, at my multi-tronic Audi A6, 2009, I've had some bad experiences with it. I think would be safer to choose a manual one.Or?
- Is it worth to buy a AWD? or a front wheel drive will be enough, considering that where I live we don't have that much winter conditions in a year.

I had looked at other options, like Volvo XC60 or BMW X3, same year.

thanks a lot for your replies!
Adrian

No difference between the 16 and 17 to speak of.
No active accident-avoidance technologies
Comfort on poor streets, one persons comfort isn't others.
Still no USB ports that I'm aware of.

A of A doesn't import manual trannies to the USA market for the Q5s (and most of the other models), so your only choice for the Q5 is an automatic. Also, it would be very difficult to find a non-quattro Q5 in the NA market - that is one of Audi's main selling point for their vehicles. Since VW/Audi AG was caught in the "dieselgate" issue, I doubt you will find very many TDIs for MYs 2016 or 2017. If you do, the diesel should have been updated with the corrected software to ensure it meets the emissions standards. For reference, we have a 2014 Q5 Premium Plus w/ the 4-cylinder 2.0L petro engine with 59.3K miles on it. Other than the Safety Recalls, no major issues so far.

Any Q5 from 2014 MY tfsi/tsi should be problem free.

Automatic and Quattro are the major selling points of Q5. Can’t have a luxury SUV without. However since manual is important to you I recommend that you get a Q5 with paddle shifts on MFSW.

I mostly use paddle shifts when downshifting or slowing down instead of braking so those are important to me.

I also recommend the premium plus or prestige package. Premium is basic. Not sure if premium plus comes with paddle shifts so check it out.

Then if you think that you get a slow response or delay from accelerator pedal, i.e. 1 sec lag, it is an easy modification. There is a way to make accelerator pedal throttle response be instant using PedalBox (probably other brands too offer something similar). Drives better than a manual.
