Default Roof Rack Tool

I went to remove my roof rack today and discovered that the tool is nowhere to be found. It must be in the original owner's garage along with the cargo lid and other truck accessories that are missing.

Anyway have a part number or a source to get it replaced?

Also, I've seen picks of the black storage bin just under the floor that other's have posted. It appears that there is some other "stuff" that I don't have. For example, apparently there's a divider panel for one -- and I'm curious about anything else I may be missing.

The AudiUSA Parts/Accessory site is about useless since there's very little in the way of pics and/or descriptions.

Any suggestions?

Thanks all!

That bin under the main trunk/ boot floor is an optional item as far as I am aware. Comes as part of some package or another. It can probably be purchased separately from Audi or eBay etc.

The tool to remove the roof racks is I think, a part of the tool kit which is under the second carpet layer in the boot.

Thanks! I found the following guide.

So, in case images ever stop working it's 8R0-071-712 XX (where XX is the appropriate socket code to match the installation bolts).

BY the way, the "security" bolt can be replaced with a 6-1mm x 55mm bolt. (That's a six mm bolt with a 1mm thread pitch, metric standard, 55mm long.)
These are available in flange head (use a standard thin wall socket wrench) or cap nut or mushroom head (both use a 5mm or 4mm allen key) which removes the "security" aspect but also ensures that no special tool is needed. If you use a bolt that takes a 5mm allen key, the same key can also be used to remove the crossbars from the mounting bases, which then makes them small enough to stow in the car.

AFAIK there are no codes stamped on either the racks, or the wrenches. You just have to look at the pattern (which can be hard to see) and then match it up to the "chart" of available patterns.

I suspect that like the McGard wheel locks, there are some fairly conventional tool items that can be used to forcibly unlock these, even without the matching wrench. But when I first tried mine out, looking for the tiny alignment mark on the cheezy torque wrench (I own better), the phrase "Mickeymouse!" just sprang right into mine.

Probably as viewed from the top. Which is also the only way you could view the bolt head, as normally installed in the racks.
