Not really surprised the dealer took the cheaper way out. With that said though, I am very pleased with the mat. One thing that the carpet mat offers that the rubber mat doesn't is the tie down clips in the floor remain usable. Guess it really comes down to preference.

The rubber cargo mat has cutouts for the tie down clips so you can still use them.

The spare tire handle is covered completely by the mat though.

Questions for those who have the OEM Q5 rubber mats.

Does the rubber mats for the second row cover the huge hump in the middle?

Unfortunately, the rubber mats are not available in my area until mid October. Wanna know if it's worth waiting for it.

I think the rear mats are two piece, no hump coverage

i've had the OEM all weather mats for 2 months.
the front ones snap into place and are very secure.
the rear ones kinda move around ( 2 pieces).
the trunk one ripped in 1 place when i dropped a heavy luggage onto it. the material is pretty thin.

That is correct and it really kinda sucks because the back mats are so tiny. I think they're the exact same footprint as the standard mat. Guess where kids are going to stick their muddy snowy feet?
That being said if you live in an area where you get winter weather I'd strongly recommend. Hose it off and you're done in the spring.

THe trunk one isn't so great. I'd call it a plastic liner. All it does is let the stuff in the back slide all over the place. The inside of the trunk door is all scratched up. Mine didn't come with a cargo net either.

The front are fine but the ones in the rear seat are small ("T"-shaped) and not all that practical. I find that 1/2 of the soil still gets on the carpet.

+1. I can see where the carpet mats would be this shape due to the raised portions of the floor, but with rubber mats, seems like they could have molded it to cover parts of those raised areas a bit better.
