Yesterday, while my 2010 Q5 was in for repair work, I was provided a 2011 A4 2.0 loaner. When I returned to loaner, I drove both cars within minutes of each other under the same weather conditions.

The A4 seat (on setting #6) got very warm/almost uncomfortable during the 20 minute drive to the dealer. The Q5 seat (also on setting #6) did not get much warmer than 'luke warm". It was noticeably cooler and did not nearly approach uncomfortable during the 20 minute drive home.

I was amazed at the difference between the 2 vehicles.

An update. The dealer was able to do an update ( I believe the service chap called it a 09 Q5 update) and it increased the max temp from 70F to near 80F. Have tested it a few times this week and so far so good.

I really hope you're right on this. I would think it would be the case. I'll be calling my dealer today.

It seems to me that even these crappy seat warmers are warmer than 70 degrees F ? The little bit of "research" I did (if you can call using Google "research"), is that most of the temps out there for aftermarket heaters average around 115 surface temp, some go as high as 140. 70F is an insult.

Do you have a service printout of exactly what they did? Several people have asked the service dept (myself included) and the answer has always been nothing we can do.

heh, i'm kinda glad that "seat warmers" seems to be one of the biggest issues with Q5 on these forums (had mine for one whole week). We traded in Subaru Tribeca - and believe or not, one of the issues we had with it was that regardless of setting seats were just too hot, uncomfortably so that we had to turn heating off after a few minutes. We're in Vermont, so we need heated seats, expecially so because we keep the car outside. So far I really welcome "milder" approach... with temps around 20F last few days, they are just perfect for us (at 3-4 setting)

Would be very interested in in hearing the service code for this. The seat warmers are truly worthless. Anyone calling this "good" or even "adequate" is drinking some impressive Kool-aid.

Saw this Vag code for seat warmer memory... Anything near this relating to level?

From member jmblur:

Driver's heated seat memory:
08 Auto HVAC -> Adaptation
"Storage of seat heater level driver" from drop down. Change to On and Save.
Again, won't work with all cars - option will just not be there.
