Thanks mate, I looked up these 'memory savers' it's just a 9V battery with 2 leads.

These Varta batteries are super expensive here in Aus though, $599

@Phunk1e you don't need them to Varta. I'd just pick-up a good AGM battery and you'll be sorted.

I hear you about prices being so different. I know for my dad's vehicle in Canada I've purchased supplies here in the US for less than 1/2 what he'd pay, even taking into account currency conversion, what they sell for here.

Thanks mate, what I worry about is this whole 'programming with a new battery'.. sounds like I need to tell the BCM that it has a new battery and what type it is?

If I don't need to do any of that, then there is no way on earth I'd spend that money. I'd get a Bosch / Exide or Century battery for half the price.

You can still program the battery to the vehicle, even if it's a Bosch...I've done it. You just have to spoof the vehicle into believing that your replacing with Varta and you'll be set. There's a GREAT thread on the forum here, but don't have time to find it...but I know it exists.

In my case there was no need to identify the battery, just changed the last digit per Bob's suggestion and away you go.Easy peasy.

Glad to hear everything went well. I changed my battery after 6 years preemptively before any symptoms. I figured why wait till winter and risk problems, when the amortized cost of new AGM battery was only $30 a year ($180 / 6). I got a Bosch from Pep Boys.

Yeah you're not going to find a better option than an AGM battery and a good intelligent charging system in a clean environment.
By the way Bob I would much prefer dandelions in the background but this is Canada LOL.

Murray,

Did the electrical subsystems gremlins go away after the new battery install?
