Default SQ5 pulls to the right in wet braking

My 2017 Sq5 pulls to the right when braking in cold, very wet weather.

Happens randomly on highway when driving straight after not braking for five to ten minutes. Seems to happen in Auto or Comfort mode. Steering wheel not rotating. Tire pressure good. 5k miles total on the car. Blizzak tires new. It feels the left side of the car has no brakes. Not a crowned road, usually interstate. Problem goes away after braking and shifting through drive modes. First time required quick counter steer...I cannot replicate this in dry weather.

At the second Audi Dealer now trying to figure it out....

Any advice or thoughts appreciated.

interested to see the out come, considering it is a very new car. I can only imagine but maybe the brake pads didn't seat themselves properly? only a guess at this point.

Also congrats on your new SQ5

Brake fluid bleeding needed due to air in the system??

(just read again your comment: that you cannot replicate this in dry weather)

I dont trust new brake technologies.

Per Audi.......

"The mid-size five-passenger Audi Q5 luxury crossover and the Audi Q7 seven-passenger full-size luxury SUV both have auto-dry brakes as part of the braking system. In wet conditions, the disc wiping system gently pulses brakes to help remove water buildup. The most effective braking results from keeping the discs as dry as possible. In addition, the brake system is able to detect the driver’s attempt at full braking and can apply full stopping power when required. The advantage of this is that braking distance is significantly reduced."

The auto-dry system may not be working on one or more brake discs.

Keep us posted...

I've got a 2014 SQ5, and have never had the experience you're describing.

There are a few possibilities, but I would think they would apply to both dry and wet conditions...
-faulty caliper
-bad line
-bad pads

Just a few thoughts,

Jason

Default Delayed resolution.....braking

After five days at the dealer they tell me that they don't see a cause to the issue....that I should put the OEM wheels and Tires back on the car and see if it happens again.......
The aftermarket wheels are within spec size and the tires are new.......the car drives and handles great with this set up except randomly in heavy rain.....
Expert advice needed.

thanks

Did the dealer check out the auto-dry system? I doubt it.............

Also I believe that you need the wipers on to trigger the auto-dry system. Did you have your problem driving in the wet without wipers on?

Mine does the same thing -it's a 2014 SQ5. I just expect it if the brakes are very wet and I haven;t used them in a while. I thought it was just poor design not allowing the discs to dry well.

With my Q5 usually when it rains I don't use the wipers. I find the windshield inclination of Q5 as a natural water repellent.

Bob this seems to be a good point, wipers on triggers auto dry system (is this true??). So it is not an auto dry system after all, is it? ????
