the 3.0T a6 loaner we were given had it and i too didn't like it,
but it did function seamlessly and could be easily disabled with the button as stated

Just so you know. My 2013 A6 3.0T has start/stop feature. If you dont like it, you can just push the button to turn it off. The next time you start your car, it will be off as default. I like the feature though.
