The stock tire widths are 235 and 255, so 245 is not going to be a problem. The stock 18" tire sizes are 235/60r18 and 255/55r18 (latter just on the Macan), at 29.0-29.1" diameter. All the stock tire sizes for the Q5 run in the 29.0-29.2" diameter range. Apparently, there's a hard limit of ~29.4" due to the wheel bearing housing on the B9; the B8 is similar design so probably a similar limit. 245/60r18 is 29.6". You'd need to confirm the space you have between the tire and the knuckle top (where the upper control arms attach) to see if you have any room in there for more tire.

In the winter I use 235 65 17 (Pirelli Ice Zero) they are extremely comfortable and quite. Great on gas mileage also. Audi recommends going down to 17" (Q5) for winters. I found a set of used Audi rims for $200 CDN.

That's a good idea, and just so others are aware, 17's won't fit over the SQ5 brake calipers. Some 18's do, but 19's are a safe bet. I run stock 21's in the summer and 255/50/19's in the winter, and they have a more comfortable ride than the '21s.

Just to keep OP aware of overall diameter, 235/65/r17 is 29.0", 255/50r19 is also 29.0". 235/60r18 is 29.1". Still suspect 245/60r18 (29.6") won't fit.
