UK: front Brake Discs - Help need today!
Hi,
I was hoping someone could help out ASAP. I have a 64 plate SQ5, My front brakes are warped (as verified by going on a rolling road) and I'm getting them replaced tomorrow. I've been told that by an indy garage that there is no 3rd party after spares for the brake discs and I have to use Audi replacements? The discs are coming in at £212 each! But when I go on eurocarparts or GSF I put my reg in and there are numerous discs, say brembo for example, that supposedly fit my car? these are only £130 for one.
Can someone help advise on this??
Thanks in advance
Finlee

The choices for the SQ5 may be very limited for the front application. I looked at one of the mega-websites here in the USA and see nothing listed for the front, many choices for the rear.
("64 plate" doesn't mean anything to people outside the UK.)

USA SQ5 (which is gas) uses a quasi two piece 380mm rotor with built in pins for the rotor ring. Nice design that makes the rotor a lot lighter overall than conventional cast iron single piece ones.
The design is apparently patented, with the rights held by BMW and Audi related group. Hence why you can only get them in dealer channels. Once in a while someone identifies Zimmerman as a possible supplier in one size of that design of rotor. But often I think it is just aftermarket confused listings that have faulty information about the actual application. The "normal" Q5 in bigger sizes is 345mm for front, and other listings may be confusing that.

that would make sense on what I'm being told! its just an absolute killer to potentially pay double the price for discs for what I thought were readily available parts!?!
