I just went and looked at an mdx. While it was a nice ride functionally for me, it won't be any better. The sales guy even told me I'd be better off getting an Odyssey. He said for 3 kids the mdx is more for older kids that are in boosters and up. Can't really crawl in the 3rd row to buckle a kid in. One the second row only one side slides, the other side just folds and you can't move the seats forward or backward like the Q5. Even my highlander 2nd row moves like the Q5. If you put a car seat in the middle seat it will interfere with the other 2nd row seats as far as trying to get to the third row. Yeah the cargo area is a bit bigger but if I put the third row up i wouldn't be able to get my stroller in.

Default Minivan alternative

If you want a minivan alternative, then look at the Ford Flex. Very roomy and not a minivan.
