Actually the new 2.0T was develop for both Cars & SUV's.
I don't see how this makes sense. The current 3.2 V6 and 2.0T engines were also developed for cars and found their way into Q5, so why wouldn't the 3.0 Supercharged V6 engine be suitable for the job? The next X3 will have BMW's 3 liter turbo (among other engines), that was originally developed for the 3 series, and also found its way into their SUV models. The reason I'd prefer the 3.0 instead of the 3.6 in the Q5 is more power, better efficiency and tuning potential. But in this case I must agree that either one will be better than the current 3.2
Remember that in Europe the engine has been used in the Q5 & the Tiguan since it was first introduced. That is one of the main reasons why torque increase was their main concern when the engine was re-designed. The 3.2 is another story. I think the reason they are still using this engine is due to its lower cost vs. the 3.6. In any case I would prefer the 3.0 with anything from 290hp like the A6 to 333hp like the S4. The main thing is I will stay away from the Q5 until they change engines. I even prefer the 2.0T that will day-view on the Q5 for 2011. Happy Driving!
