Not very handsome at all, however it could provide protection for the fragile plastic strip at the bottom of the doors...

The vehicle in that picture is not a Q5/SQ5 MKII or not a NA version anyway.
I'm curious to know why someone would put these on their Q5?
IMO it defeats the point of having a vehicle with the extra ground clearance.

What do you mean is not a Q5/SQ5????
That IS a FY model Q5, or what some limited markets call MKII.
You do know there are markets outside the US don't you, I mean not just Canada or Mexico, maybe the German plates would give it away.

Relax @Martigary . I was just making the point that the Q5 in the picture is not a NA (North American) model so I doubt that the option is available here.
@NeonMidnight was asking if anyone had found the running boards in the US.
I am fully aware that Audi sells the Q5 all over the world in multiple markets.

If you go down a few threads to "Q5 2019 Order Guide W/Pricing released," and then go to Firstinsd's posting of the pricing guide/order form, you will see a listing, QT 7 for $1100 - Running Boards......
Guess they are available for 2019......

Running boards can be helpful if you have small children who often struggle getting into a vehicle that sits this high off the ground. As for defeating the higher ground clearance, they don't typically sit any lower than the floor pan. Look under your car and you'll see that the floor pan sits several inches below the bottom of the body panels.

I never did find running boards for the NA market, but I see that they're an option on the 2019 models. Oddly they're not listed in the online accessory catalog though.
