My Monsoon Gray SQ5 Prestige with 21" option comes with these small pieces of wheel well lip trim. I know that the old Q7 had a plastic lip trim that was stuck on to the fender lip when the 21" wheels were added as an option, but these are only like 5" long and are barely noticeable. I think the law is that the wheels can't stick out past the fender, so this is how they get around that rule.

My 2017 Q5 with 20" wheels has similar trim, but they are a longer than those on your SQ5. The trim on my rear wheels are about 14 inches long and those on the front pretty much are along the entire wheel well.

Not really noticeable or in the way so I'll leave them. I guess it's one way to tell if the car was purchased from the factory with the 21" wheel option.

The part I'm referring to is the tiny matte black plastic piece that sticks out from underneath the painted fender edge. If you look at the SQ5 linked by NeedMoreHP...it has the 20" wheels and no trim.

I'll try to get some outdoor pics for you, but I'm not the primary driver so I have to wait until it gets home.

But it provides protection for that 5" strip of each fender lip!
