Apple Carplay Disconnects Phone - Q5 2021 (Wireless)
The past two days I've started using Apple Carplay with MMI in MY21 as I like that it has my calendar items and other apps I can launch. However, I've noticed that twice so far it's booted my phone out somehow where carplay is no longer on the screen and the Audi interface takes over. I then have to reconnect my phone to the MMI for Carplay to resume. Anyone else experience this issue? I'm wondering if it's an iOS issue or an Audi MMI issue. I just updated to the latest version of iOS yesterday so not sure if this was an issue from before?

I have been using CarPlay with my iPhone 12 Pro almost exclusively since I got the car and am pleasantly surprised that it is rock solid. No disconnects so far on my up to 1 hour long drives.
I have learned though that I should not try to connect to the car's WiFi manually, it somehow has to connect via Bluetooth first and will then switch automatically to the 5GHz WiFi for CarPlay.

It has been happening to me frequently as well. It also happened with about the same degree of frequency in the last couple months of ownership of my '19 E-tron, so I think it has to be phone or iOS related. I'm on an iPhone XR. The cynic in me says it's the preprogrammed glitch that activates in accordance with a new iPhone release.

I see this fairly often in my 2018 with iPhone XS. I've tried multiple cables, including Apple OEM. It works most of the time, but will sometimes drop the car play connection or more often not start car play when plugging in the cable. A quick unplug / plug in of the cable and I am back in business.

Maybe it's worth to change the subject and mention that this is about the 2021+ MIB3 with wireless CarPlay. 2018-2020 with MIB2 MMI do not have wireless CarPlay and would not be affected.
