Default Which color if it wasn't an additional cost?

Which color would you choose if Audi didn't charge you extra?
Please vote on the poll above.

Yeah here in the states they charge you if the color is NOT black or white. Audi America is a bunch of crooks!

Unfortunately it's not uncommon for manufacturers to charge for colors especially the big 3 German brands.

In the U.S., Audi actually has the most reasonable prices for metallic paint colors among the three German luxury brands of compact SUVs. As you know, Audi charges $575 for every Q5 metallic color (and for 2018, they have some really nice choices). On the GLC 300, Mercedes wants anywhere from $720 to $1515 for metallics and an incredible $3950 for a matte brown that looks really ugly on my computer screen. For the Macan, Porsche charges $700 for most metallics, but $3120 for Carmine Red, the only color I really wanted when I was shopping the Macan.

Here's something I don't understand from a marketing perspective: I rarely see any "free" color other than Ibis. This means, perhaps 90-95% of the cars are sold with the upcharge paint. Why not, considering that folks pick the fee colors almost all of the time, just include it in the MSRP? Frankly, I wouldn't care if the MSRP increased by, uh, $425 to cover the free vs not free ratio.

It is a small bone of contention.

Base MSRP is a very important point of comparison for cars, so it's in Audi's best interest to keep it low.

You would think painting a car would cost the same as painting a car black or white.
